Abundance In Our Lives
I feel we truly are blessed with abundance in our lives, compared to family who lived a hundred or so years ago or to a family that lives in a less developed country. Sometimes we have an over abundance of material things, too many gadgets, gizmo's and stuff in general. Other times we don't notice the great abundance of important things we have, like the love of our family, good health or a warm sunny day.
Sallie of A Gracious Home is "Celebrating a Year of Abundance" so I've decide to join her on the journey. From time to time I hope to write about living simpler, yet more abundantly.
Simple living, also known as voluntary simplicity is a lifestyle people choose for a variety of reasons, such as spirituality, health, or ecology. We've chosen to live more simply as it appeals to our strong sense of fairness, also for personal health and economy. Our goal is to improve the quality of our life, and that of all creatures great and small.
Homemaking is really about managing, think of all the things you need to do, organize and resources you manage every day! Learning to do this all in the quickest, easiest and most efficient way will save you time, money and make your life more abundant.
Here are a few ways I manage my homemaking making it a little simpler. I always put things back in the same place, everything has a home and I know exactly where to find it, unless someone else puts it in a new place! This saves time and frustration looking for things. I almost always cook or prepare enough for more than one meal, this makes making another meal less work. I don't care much for convenience and instant foods as generally they are less healthy, more expensive and besides the taste doesn't compare to homemade. I use one all purpose organic cleaner for most of my cleaning chores including washing dishes. We all take our shoes off at the door, it sure helps keep the floors clean.
My biggest challenge is clutter, like Sallie I have an abundance of things. But I think that's fuel for another story.
