Bacon And Onion Stuffed Mushroom Caps

This is a quick and easy hot appetizer or snack that can be prepared ahead and popped into the oven 15 minutes before serving.

24 whole snow cap mushrooms
Watkins Original Grapeseed Oil
2 tbsp/30 mL Watkins Bacon and Onion Snack and Dip Seasoning
8 oz/227 g cream cheese, softened
2 tbsp/30 mL fresh chives, chopped or 1 tbsp/15 mL Watkins minced green onion

Wipe mushrooms with a clean cloth, remove stems and brush caps with grapeseed oil. Stir bacon and onion seasoning into cream cheese; fill opening where mushroom stem was removed with mixture.  You can pipe in the filling using a pastry bag or simply fill with a spoon. Bake on a cookie sheet at 350°F/180°C for 10-15 minutes or until mushrooms are done. Remove from oven and garnish with a sprinkle of chives or minced green onion.

Makes 24 appetizers.

Save the mushrooms stems for another recipe; for example chop and add to soup, stew, stir fry or gravy.
